Who Needs Michelen?

I've always used Michelins on my vehicles. Had the XTerrains on my Tahoe and got great wear out of them. They were an excellent tire, wore well, handled well, rode well. No complaints. When I needed to replace them after 72,000 miles I found that they think a lot of their tires because the prices are out of sight. Started looking around and discovered (no pun intended) the Discoverer CTS. Couldn't get a lot of info on them since they are so new. In fact mine were the first set the dealer had installed. But the specs were great-as good as the Michelin, 60000 mile tread warranty- same as the Michelins and the price significantly less than the Michelins. So far I'm impressed. In fact I can't tell the difference between these and the Michelins I had before. They ride great, corner well, great wet traction, quiet and in 8000+ miles hsow almost no wear. What more can I say except who needs Michelins?

I read the review from the person that owned a 2007 Ford Edge and claimed a loss of 4-5 MPG. I almost did not purchase the tire based on that review. However I purchased the tires and have not had any difference in fuel milage at all. I still get 16-17 MPG in town and 23-25 MPG on the highway. The tires ride great and are quite. Now its just a matter of time to evaluate the 70000 mile part. I have held the rating to 4 stars only until the tire wear can be evaluated

Found these tires at TreadDepot for very good price. Could not find them elsewhere. Local stores did not carry them. Cost was much higher to order through local stores than with your company. They arrived much sooner than I expected. They ride very well. We prefer Cooper tires for their ride and durability. Thank you.

It is difficult to give a comprehensive review at this time as there are very few miles on them. They are very quiet and the handling is great. I will have to wait to experience the handling on wet roads and then wait for winter for that experience. Also, I am anxious to see how many miles I will get on them. That was also a major influence on my decision to purchase this tire.

The Cooper CTS is a wonderful tire. I called a local tire dealer in my area to help me make my decision between the Michelin and the Cooper. He stated there is ground up glass (you won't be able to see it) but it helps you adhere to the road better. I live in the country with traveling on windy, hilly and narrow roads, in addition, our roads are the last to be plowed and cindered, therefore I needed an aggressive all season tire. He highly suggested them and I am very happy with my purchase. So far I have driven in rain, snow, ice and sleet and I have great performance with these tires. The road noise is quiet as compared to the Michelin tires and the ride is softer over bumps. With the Michelin tires if I would hit a bump the tires would lose contact with the road, I do not get any loss of contact with the road since I have had the Cooper tires. I also called my dealership where I originally purchased my car and the service specialist highly agreed with this tire over the Michelin. He stated, "If I were to purchase new tires I would go with the Cooper" I am usually very unhappy with the Michelin tires due to the aggressive wear and having to replace them within a year.

I put these Cooper CTS on my '12 4runner and love them. Very smooth and quiet on the road which is where I spend 99% of my time. They are wearing very well at 20,000 miles. They are really good in the rain and wet roads, no hydroplaning or sliding around. I'll see soon how they handle a WV winter. I put a set on my elderly mothers RAV4 and even she could tell the difference from the stock Bridgestones that came on it.

These are my second set of Cooper Tires, but a different size. I can easily say they are the best brand of tires out there especially for the price. Although I only have less than 100 miles on these new set, it has already reduced the road noise and comfort. It has great handing especially during cornering, shorter braking distance and also great wet traction. These are definitely better than the OEM or any other lower priced tires. They also come with at least 1-2 /32-inch deeper tread than most tires out there. The mileage warranty is also much higher than most (tires) in this size and application. My first set (on my SUV) has around 50K miles and it still looks new with lots of tread remaining. Highly advise that you do not spend the unnecessary expense on more expensive tires when you can save at least 40-50% purchasing Cooper's.

I've had these set of Cooper's on my vehicle since, I guess, 2006. Before that I had the Cooper HT's. These, at first, seemed to have a problem staying in balance, but that could be caused by a number of other factors. These tires ride smooth and quiet. Their performance in inclimate road conditions keep me at ease & confident, especially in city traffic. My Cooper tire provider does a great service to the community and supporting the Cooper brand. I'm due for replacement tires, as I'm coming up on the safe life expectancy of these tires. Between the excellent quality of these tires and how they've performed, and the great service from my tire dealer, I won't hesitate to purchase another set of 4. When you find someone who provides good quality products and excellent customer service, you should stick with them. That's how our country became so successful. Not by lies & deciet, but with honesty & integrity.

My girlfriends tire were worn out and she asked me to research for what I thought were the best. I read all of the reviews on here (34) at that time. These were what we came up with and she absolutely loves them. They needed minimum balancing, they handle great and they are a nice looking tire. This same tire will be going on my 2010 Toyota Tundra as soon as the Michelins wear out. They are about 95.00 cheaper per tire and are rated for more miles. Seems like a no brainer to me anyway

I make a living in sales and drive over 30K/year, normally a diehard Michelin tire guy. Glad my tire guy pitched the Cooper Discoverer CTS my way. Driven all tyes of road conditions, superior handling, quite ride, and smooth ride on my Yukon. Have had customers comment on how well these tires rode without leading them there. A very good tire combination for the GMC Yukon, on and off road. I run nitrogen fill and notice 1.5-2 mpg increase. The Yukon came with G/Y Wranglers that were junk and roared too much for highway driving, not to mention no miles to wearout.

I have them on both the Murano SUV and my dad's Nissan Quest van. What a nice surprise, to get real quality for a good price. I like them a lot better than all the Michelins, Goodyears and BFGoodrich I ever owned. First of all, they balanced perfectly. No vibration to bug me every time I drive the car. They are very quiet, surprisingly quiet. The handling is great and snow driving is better than any other tire I ever had. In Colorado we get plenty of chances to test them for that. Very happy, Thank you Cooper Tires, thank you TreadDepot.

So far (5000 miles into it), the CTS Cooper's have been......well, outstanding. I had just about given up on Cooper, after 2 bad tires out of 8.....but read the review on the CTS's and figured I give Cooper one last shot. Glad I did. My only caveat with the tire is that I haven't yet gone through an Illinois winter. Nonetheless, with that as my only caveat, I'd say buy them. They stick to the road like glue, handle well at high speeds (90-mph for short distances, 75mph average highway), and have maintained balance for the 5000 miles driven so far. As for TreadDepot, was a pleasure to work with; will do it again.

Put these on 3 summers ago to replace the BFG originals which ran 50,000 mi but would not pass annual safety inspection. Truck just turned 100,000 and on inspection the Cooper Discoverers still have half the tread depth left. They ride smoothly and quietly on the highway. Snow and ice is no problem and in 4WD I can handle 15 to 18 in of unplowed snow up my long driveway. I just bought 4 for my Toyota Tundra based on the experience with the Nissan. Treadepot delivered in 4 business days and offered a reasonable price with a rebate which will cover the mounting/balancing necessary. I will certainly buy there again when I need tires.

Purchased the Cooper Discoverer CTS last Fall to replace the factory Goodyear Wrangler AT/S on my '07 Silverado 4X4. The Goodyear AT/S were less than 1/2 worn but never matched my driving needs. Wanted a smooth & quite tire with superior high-speed road manners but was concerned the CTS would not provide acceptable snow traction. This tire is everything I wanted and proved excellent in snow through an unusually rough Winter. Wet road traction is significantly improved and provides vastly more responsive handling and stability over the factory Goodyear AT/S. If they live up to the durability rating, this will be a winner. Very happy with this choice thus far. American-made product at 2/3 the price of comparable Michelin. Buy this tire, won't be dissappointed.

I bought these tires when I got a flat and decided to replace all 4. I almost gave birth when I saw the price. That said, it was worth every penny. These tires are superb. They are quiet, stable, and you feel like you are stuck to the road. In rain, snow, slush, and on dry pavement there is no comparison. I will buy these tires as long as they are sold. Outstanding traction. I feel safe and secure. The gas mileage is excellent. If you are reading this review, you need look no further. You won't be disappointed. My only regret is that there isn't a 6 star rating.

I put these on my truck over a year ago and they ride great, nice and quiet, handle very well even on wet roads. Best tires I've had on my truck so far and that includes Michelin (that everyone told me I just had to have) and the Japanese crap that came on it. I've driven over 30K miles and haven't worn half the tread yet. Great American tire at a great price. There is no use paying more for a Michelin as I feel this tire rides better and is superior in traction to what I replaced. I have found no drawbacks to them yet.

I bought this 2004 Suburban used in January for a big summer trip to Wyoming. I previously had a converion van to do the big haul's which had Michelin's which were good and quiet. They had cracking on the side walls and bought Firestones based on cost. They were terrible with noise and poor fuel mileage. I shopped and thought I'll go back to Michelin's, but after reading reviews on Treadepot, I gave the Coopers CTS's a try. I don't know about the mileage right now but after having Goodyear Wrangler A/S's that came with the Suburban, the Cooper CTS's are so quiet and smooth, but more amazing is their cost is almost half with the discounts. I recomend the CTS's very highly for some who is very fussy about the ride and noise for long trips. (They look good too.)

Like one other reviewer I had the Michelin Cross Terrains that came with the vehicle although I never liked those from day one. They had poor traction under even dry pavement conditions and wore out by 45,000 miles. On the other hand I have had the pleasure of having these Coopers since the last part of January 2010 until now and so have seen how they can perform under the various weather extremes we encounter in far northern Illinois. These are very stable tires for lane changes on snowy days but are responsive and predictable at all times. They are very quiet also. We've had other Cooper products on our cars over the years and can vouch for their durability as well.

My sport trac has 88,000 miles on it. Purchased last summer with Firestone Destination AT's. Knew it was about time to start researching tires as it's been a rough winter in New England and wanted to assure safe driving. These Cooper Tires are much quieter than the Firestone Destination AT's! I'm hoping to get 60-70,000 miles out of this set of tires. I will check back soon with comments.

Cooper's new Discoverer CTS. What a great tire I would consider my driving like DRIVING MISS DAISY/Nascar style. I love to put it in to the corner to feel the tires work. These tire have great stability - gives my Honda a very sturdy feel. They don't wander, have no feeling of drift and are not noisy; and with the beefy tread blocks, they great in the snow. They look like winter tires and perform like a sport tire. Huge depth to the tread block. They don't slide when wet and they just go, go, go, in the snow. On ice they're great also. What can I say? I used to install truck tires and these are some of the best tires I've had. I would compare them to Michelin. With all the horror stories about Cooper tires I am happy with these great looking tires.

We had Discoverer H/T on the vehicle and really liked them. I wanted to go back with them again, but my tire guy suggested the CTS. I was hesitant when he said they were the new version of the H/T, and they were also more expensive. I am really glad that I took his advice, they are alot quieter and ride better also. Would buy them again.

First of all, I couldn't find these tires any cheaper than from Treadepot AND shipping was instantaneous.

LOVE THESE TIRES! I had them mounted and balanced on the same day a major storm system came through. There was massive amounts of water on the roads. Not one single time did I feel as though traction was an issue. They performed marvelously. It's dry today and the tires are very responsive and QUIET.

If you have an SUV and you don't replace your factory tires with these you will never know how much you can TRULY enjoy driving your vehicle.

I bought these in November 2008. I talked to many SUV owners before I choose this tire. No one I talked to was satisfied with their tires so I took a chance with the new Cooper CTS. I am 100% satisfied. On a recent trip from Minnesota to Colorado and back, we experienced every driving condition imaginable. In an Iowa snowstorm, we saw over 100 vehicles in the ditch. In Wyoming, we witnessed two separate 4 car pile-ups due to icy conditions. In Colorado, we climbed the mountains to Winter Park right after a snow storm. In Nebraska and South Dakota, we drove 75 mph in dry windy conditions and saw one truck blown over. In every instance, the CTS tires performed flawlessly. They were quiet and gripped the road so well that we didn't even have to use 4-wheel drive.

I got these based on the consumer reports reccomendation. They were a fair price and seem to have a great balance of ride comfort and low noise without giving up handling. My previous tires were Michilin Cross Terrain. These seem much quieter and seem to absorb little inperfections in the road better. There is no question these are quieter. I think Cooper has a winner here.

At 65 years of age, I have purchased quite a few sets of tires, from a wide array of manufacturers. While I had a few problems with a different model of Cooper's, the CTS has greatly surpassed my expectations. My driving style is generally aggressive, split 30/60 between city & highway. Not unusual for me to run the tires at 75-80mph for extended periods. They handle snow and rain well (and, no I don't run 80mph in either) and brake quickly. Yes, I would buy another set. I see no reason why the set I have won't last another 25K. I have rated the tire 4.5 versus 5.0, because I still want to see the last 25K miles. P.S.: The service from TreadDepot was as advertised.

These Cooper tires are really good. Quiet, smooth, great traction, control in corners, good on snow and wet conditions. Pleasantly surprised they handled the 4500 mile cross-country trip at 80 MPH interstate speeds and up and down curving mountain roads just fine. The Coopers are much better on the Honda Pilot than the Goodyear Assurance Triple Treads. At this point, I am satisfied with my decision with Cooper Discoverer CTS tires. I wish that these tires had been factory installed when we bought the Pilot.

First time buying Cooper Tires. We've had a good bit of snow this winter, unusual for this area. Found the Coopers good in snow, better than the General Grabber HTSs we have on another vehicle (though its a good tire also). So far they have been good in the rain and in braking. This is probably the quietest tire I've own; I can hear the nice burble of the truck's engine even at high speeds where it was drowned out by the General Ameritracs that came standard with the truck. Gas mileage dropped somewhat but I did go up in size from the standard 245. Holds air pressure nicely and am using nitrogen for the first time. The CTS looks great on the truck with white letters and a nice tread. Overall, excellent tire, excellent price and would buy again. Prefer these over the Generals.

These tires were the best bang for the buck I could find. 70,000 mile tires installed for $840, they ride a little hard, but I think that's the price you pay for the wear-life on the tire. Let's hope I get at least 65,000 out of them. They definitely feel a lot more solid and more enjoyable to drive on than the OEM Goodyear wranglers that came with the truck.

Good tire overall, great tire for the price. I drive 220 miles a day round trip for work. These tires have handled light snow and heavy rain without any issues. I had to go back to the shop that mounted and balanced them to get a high speed balance because from 70-80 mph there was a vibration. The high speed balance fixed it. The road noise is a 2 part review: First, on nice smooth pavement/concrete, these tires are whisper quiet. At speeds above 70, it does feel like it has a little wander on the road. I talked to the shop and they say that it is from the tread design. Second, on rough pavement, these tires are unbelievably noisy. There are times when my I have to get off the phone because the person on the other end can't hear me over the tire hum. So if you drive on older highways, you may want to consider a different tire. Overall I am very impressed with the handling and traction. For the price, I would definitely buy these tires again.

Truck came with Goodyear HP from factory. They are the basis for the comparison. The Coopers are a firmer tire, noticably stiffer in ride. It is not harsh, but rougher than the GY tires originally on it. If you like a soft, comfy tire on your big SUV, this might not be the one for you. They are quiet, especially compared to the HP's with 40k miles that came off. Handling is good, solid. They track well and are predictable. Rain performace is very good. Have not had snow yet, so can't comment on that aspect yet. I compare these to the Bridgestone Alenza HL tires. However, these are priced close to a budget tire, hundreds lower than the GoodYear, Michelin, and Bridgestone options for my truck. I drive mostly highway, and 40k per year. These tires are well suited for this purpose, and this heavy truck. I expect the extra firmness will be appreciated when towing a heavy load, which I do on occasion. I would purchase these again for a full size SUV, and high mile driving.

I put these Coopers on a Mazda Tribute. They are very grippy on wet roads. I've only driven on snow once and kept it slow - but the Coopers - then new - did the job of getting me over a couple of small hills. These are definitely road tires. Yet,they managed well enough through a couple of unpaved BLM roads in Colorado - except up some very steep grades in a mountain pass where there was a bit of slippage over some smooth rocks on the switchbacks. *Pros: Priced at half the price of similar sized Michelin in September of 2010 - but I see the price has gone up by 20 bucks a pop since last year. Excellent traction on paved roads - making the CUV drive more like car-like. Last but not least, these tires are very quiet at highway speeds. *Cons: The grippyness of the tires on paved roads have cost me a couple of MPG on the highway, which is better than skittering about. Not the best tires for off road use.

I do not have a lot of miles on these tires - they've been on my truck for about a month. I do not do a lot of miles, and I drive both city and hwy. They are quiet on the roadway - which was important to me. From other reviews, they seem to wear pretty well. For the price, they are hard to beat.

So as long as the treadwear is what others are getting, I'll be a happy camper. I will recommend these tires to others and look at these tires for my other truck/suv.

If I had more miles on them might give them a higher rating, but for now I'll put a 4 star.

I bought these tires with 109k on my wife's SUV. We've had the lousy original Firestone Wilderness tires, then opted for the newer style Bridgestone REVOs. Next we purchased the BF Goodrich Longtrails. All of these tires lasted around 30k - 35k miles...the BF Goodrich ones being the worst of all. The Cooper CTS tire only lasted around the same mileage and are now in dire need of replacing. But considering all the tires I purchased for this vehicle, these were the least expensive, but provided the best (quietest) ride, and had the least problems. I'm not a big believer of mileage warrantees, especially when you drive such a heavy vehicle so don't buy them because they advertise a longer mileage wear. Buy them because they are the safest, gave the best ride, and most control. Unless you plan on spending twice as much on Michelins, I'd definately consider these as the only substitute on a large SUV that only is used for "On Road" driving.

I purchased the Cooper CTS at the recommendation of the dealer. I could not find many reviews on this tire since they are fairly new. Reviews I did find seemed positive. I replaced the OEM Hancook DynaPro AS which were terrible in all aspects. The CTS showed an immediate improvement in ride, quiet and handling. The only condition other than dry roads I experienced was wet, rainy road. The CTS had much better grip and handling in these conditions. The only thing I could not live with was the 5MPG loss in highway mileage and 4MPG loss in city. This was after 4 tanks of gas and trying different tire pressures. I turned them back in, taking advantage of the Cooper 45 day road test gaurantee. The CTS is probably a great tire for some other vehicle but did not work on the Ford Edge. I replaced them with General Grabber HTS after reading good reiews for these from other Edge drivers. So far ride, handling and quiet are about the same as the Coopers. I will be back with an update on the MPG with the Generals.

The tires began to lose tread rapidly (despite being rotated at every oil change) and began to lose traction even quicker. The end point for me was when I noticed that one of the tires had swelled out a knot in the tread and the belt had broken through. This bad spot in the tire had lost much more tread that the area around it and the broken wire belt sticking out a small hole in the knot really concerned me. Despite only having 22,000 miles on them and having proof of frequent rotations, I could not get a prorated discount at any cooper store around the area in NC. This has been a huge disappointment for me as I have ran cooper tires for years. I guess it is time for a switch to Michelin.

I only have 18k on these tires and they are shot. I rotated every 3k. They wore even. They are not even a year old. Hopefully cooper will refund some of my money. Way too soft a compound for a heavy car. They might last on a lighter vehicle.

Since I put them on, I had wear on the left side of each front tire, which is strange in itself. After having three shops check my alignment, they each said it was right at factory spec. Still having wear. So I was advised to put new shocks on, so I did. No difference except I'm am now out $500.00 more cash. I had the whole front end checked over twice by a Chevrolet dealer, they found nothing wrong. Tires are still wearing. I am also having trouble with the vehicle swaying more in and out of the wind and randomly being directed of track for no apparent reason. If this is not the tires please let me know what it could be. I am stumped. Before I purchased these tires I had Firestone tires on with NO problems as listed above.

I bought a set of Cooper Discoverer CTS tires. They had a smooth and quiet ride. I think they had better traction in the rain and light snow than the Yokohama's and the Goodyear Wrangler's that I had on my truck. I really liked these tires. Then I had a blow out at 55mph. There was a large egg in the sidewall. At the time the tire had about 8K miles on it. Sent the tire back to Treadepot. They would contact Cooper for a defective replacement. This took about a month. Then about at 10K I see an other egg in the sidewall. It got so large it pulled the rubber away from the bead. I could see the metal bead of the tire. This went flat in my driveway. At this time I have still not received a replacement. A little up set a called Treadepot. Cooper said It was a installer era but it took 8&10K miles for this to happen?? I do not believe this was anything but defective tires. Cooper would not stand behind their product. A long ending short Treadepot stood behind their customer. They understood my safety concerns. They sent me four new General Grabber tires and had the three remaining Cooper tires picked-up. Did I get a bad batch??? I will not buy Cooper again. I will buy from Treadepot again. They took care of me and they will do the same for you. Mike
