I read all the reviews on the HTS Grabber, They were correct. Wonderful handling and traction in all weather. I haven't tried these in deep mud, and don't expect to. I have had wonderful response in snow and ice, I am a cautious driver, even though I will drive in any type of bad weather. We get a fair amount of snow in the mountains here, I NEVER had any spin out or slid off any steep hills!

These are the greatest street tires I have ever owned. They are quiet and the soft rubber holds the street tight.

I'm over 40, and owned many trucks and tried lots of different tires makes. These will be on all my vehicles in the future.

I need to update my earlier review, Overall I have been happy with these tires. Biggest negative is wear....I have around 25k miles on this set and will need to replace them soon, probably about 4/32 remaining. In the beginning the tires really were awesome in every way for my needs. As they wore, the snow grip lessend, not horribly but a bit more than I would have liked. Tire life was much less than I wanted... 40k would have been ideal. Ride smoothness, noise, and wet traction all have been very good throughout use.

I chose the General Grabber because of positive reviews regarding ride quality and low noise plus the great price here. After 10K miles, I'd say they've lived up to expectations and were a major upgrade over the Yokohamas previously mounted on my12-year-old Pathfinder. The ride is smooth and quiet, yet, there's plenty of grip in rainy conditions. They perform fine in the snow but not as great as a pure winter/snow tire. If you often drive in the snow, there are probably better choices, but for a great all around tire, the Grabbers are hard to beat.

I bought my FX2 Supercab with 85000 miles and a set of these tires on it. I don't know how long they've been on, but there is about 3/8" left before the wear bars and they are great. Smooth riding, grippy, no issues in the wet and they look good too. Never considered General and might not have looked at them if I hadn't tried them, but for the price, I'm putting another set on when these finally wear out.

I've driven my General Grabbers about 5k miles and noticed something on my 2006 Ford Expedition I hadn't ever heard before. Wind noise. My past set of tires and the original tires were so loud all I ever heard was road noise. These Grabbers are so quiet I can now hear the wind whistling past the car. I've bought tires for over 40 years and these are probably the best all around tires I have ever owned. Wish I could say my wife doesn't have to yell at me anymore when I drive but no tire can cure that.

I purchased a used pickup truck that came with Kumho tires. In the snow the Kumho's were like riding on baldies and the ride was terribly hard. It was like the road was made of rubber and the Kumhos were made of concrete. The local repair guy recommended Generals and I took his advice. Wow!! Very smooth ride and very quiet. Looks like a tire should look and not with all the wavy sidewall designs on the Kumho. Funny thing too. . .the Kumhos actually had turned gray. . .must be something in the rubber compound they use. I'll buy Generals again.+

When I recieved my demo 2011 Honda Pilot it had some cheap tires on it. After about three months the tires were already going bald and also had alot of road noise. The dealership gave me these General Grabber HTS tires and it was like night and day. The road noise is no where near what is was before because I don't have to turn the radio up to hear.

Love the quiet ride, durability and surefooted steering/handling. With the 70 series profile, they take Manhattan potholes comfortably without damage to my custome rims! Plenty of handling and low-flexing of the sidewalls on tight turns.

With globalization, the consumer gains the most. Continental Tire company of Germany purchased General Tire Company and upgraded its facility in the USA with top german/italian machinery/robots combined with eager american workers in North Carolina.

Result? The best tires for the money! We win!

I put way to many miles on these tires. Almost 86,000!! They have lasted longer than any tire has the right too. They came standard on my 2005 Frontier and never let me down. Constant hwy/city driving for almost 6 years and they outperformed most more expensive tires. They let me smoke almost any stock truck off the line and let me stop quicker and watch the other guy go sailing buy. Love my truck and LOVE my Grabbers!!

I am 46 years old and have owned a lot of trucks and SUVs in my time. I have purchased Michilens, Pirelli, Toyo, BFG, Yokohamas. These generals are sure footed and very quiet. I currently have Yokohama HTS GO51's on my '03 Silerado - they are similar, but not as quiet or as good as General Grabber HTS - the Generals were $80 cheaper too. When the Yokos wear out they will be replaced by Generals. Oh yea, wifey's Caddy is rollin' on General Altimax hp. General tires ARE super tires at a reasonable price - for sure.

Do yourself a favor and buy these tires.

I worked in the auto business for 15 years and have been a auto enthusiast for over 25 years. I've probably driven over 4000 vehicles...maybe more. When buying tires I understand their importance.

My search for a tire that provided smooth ride, quiet ride, durability, good traction in rain and snow, decent tread life, and my required load rating took about 4 months.

Never did I think I would ever buy a General tire, in the past my experience with them was not good. I didn't own a vehicle equipt with Generals but drove many vehicles that had them... terrible tires.

After much research I decided to go with the Grabber HTS XL, although I had a concern the "XL" tires would give me a rough/harsh ride but the non XL tires were on back order and I didn't want to wait. In the end I'm very very happy with the HTS and even the XL rated.

Bought these tires in the middle of winter and was able to test their snow performance right away, preformed great in about 6 inches. Don't fool yourself, if your needs require a full on mud and snow tire get something more aggressive. But for resonable amounts of snow they are perfect.

In regard to noise, which is important to me, I couldn't be happier. Even thought I'm driving a big work van that is not by any means quiet, these tires are smooth and quite. On wet roads and heavy rain... again perfect.

I feel the Grabber HTS is a great choice for any truck, van, or SUV. Two more pluses... 1) very resonably priced and 2) made in the USA.

Hope my review is benefical.

Just thought I would comment on my experience with this tire... I usually only run Michelin LTX M/S tires on my trucks. I was happy with the performance of the Michelin tire but when I inquired about a new set I was SHOCKED at how expensive the new tire was. I decided to try something different this time and take a chance on something new. I read all the reviews on Consumer Reports and on this website and decided on the General HTS.

All I can say is WOW... From the first minute I could not tell a difference from the Michelins. The balance on the tire was incredible 3 of the tires only need 1/8 oz of weight.

I took a trip this weekend to Mississippi and was caught in a severe thurderstorms, one of which produced the tornado in Yazoo Mississippi. The rain was coming down in sheets and winds were 50-60 mph. My truck never once flinched. The tires traction in the rain was incredible... it was predictable, controlled and never once skidded on spun, even in that type of weather... I felt extremely confident driving the Generals, and don't think the Michelins would have performed this well from past experience. The cars behind me had a hard time with visibility because the Generals were pitching so much water behind me... LOL... I even pickup about 2 mpg increase and the truck seemed to crusie effortless down the interstate.

If you want a #1 Contender tire that has outstanding performance at a great price this is it... Just buy it... don't even question it. General, don't ever stop making this tire.

The winter weather has brought along record setting accumulations totaling over 60" in the last month. I am amazed at how these tires handle the deep snow and ice! The difference in control in cornering and braking is night and day. Our vehicle had Hankook A/S tires before and my Edge pushed straight through turns and didn't want to stop when I wanted it too. (Even when the tires had deep tread.) Now I find myself testing what my vehicle can do. The grip is amazing in snow! General created a winner with these tires! Time will tell how well they will hold up, but for a quiet, smooth, and safe ride, these tires are hard to beat! By the way, these tires look more aggressive than their photos. Nice!

I never thought that would buy a General Tire - EVER!! If you are looking for a great performing tire - this is the tire. I replaced the OEM Goodyears that cost nearly twice as much but you will not believe these tires. Summer driving - long trps with a loaded SUV - This is flat out a great tire. I have owned 3 other Large SUV's and they can run through the tires quickly. I had this truck on the beach in sand trying to get it dug in - no way, these tires kept pulling the truck through the sand - NICE. Rain - They do a great job in the rain - Heavy rain as well as we have been getting this week at highway speeds. Tread wear - yes only about 4000 miles or so thus far . . . . no wear at all so far. At the end of the day these tires look great and flat out perform - These are the best tires that I have ever owned! Buy them. Tread Depot does a very nice job - it seems like the people really care and have the customer first mind-set. Thanks Tread Depot - the Service is back!!

These tires are well worth the price. I had them installed in Janurary 09, and what difference they made. No longer needed to go in to 4x4 to move from a stand still in snowy conditions. I developed a false sense of condition when driving in the rain or snow they handle so well. These tires are a huge improvement over those BF Goodrich that I had on my truck, They do not skid as easly, they ride softer, and quieter. I was a little iffy about the GRABBER HTS performance when I compared the pricing amongest the others; expensive doesn't equal a better tire when it comes to the GRABBER HTS. For the price can't beat them. I'm sold General Tire has a new customer, and I will be placing these on my wife's car.

Recently purchased and am very happy. Quiet and smooth ride. I have driven the tires in snow, heavy heavy rain, and in dry conditions. Very sure footed. I evaluated several options before going with the Grabbers including Michelin, Bridgestone, and Goodyear. I really couldn't find a combination of performance and price like the Grabber. I would purchase them again and would recommend them to others. The positive report by Consumer Reports is also a plus, along with the 45 day replacement guarantee and estimated 60,000 mile life. Being from North Carolina the fact they were built in the state also is a plus. Give em a try . . . I think you'll like them.

These tires are the best! They arrived right before a big snow storm and proved to be worth the wait. If it's this easy plowing through the snow I can't wait until the summer for the mudding. They are a very smooth and quiet ride. I would highly recommend these tires for anyone looking for great quality!

I researched a lot of tires and got a great deal on the HTS. I am impressed with the comfort, no road noise to speak of, and the perfromance. I also found a review by an off-road magazine that tested these tires in snow and they were impressed that this tire perfromed better than a lot of all-terrain tires. Highly recommend. For the price, can't be beat.

I am amazed at the miles I have put on; 54000 and these tires still look good. I think they will go for another 10-20 thousand. Buy these and you wont be disapointed.

I put these on a 2500 4x4 diesel pu. Size 315 70 17. They balanced up great and no major balance issues during ownership. Smooth and quiet is what I was looking for. They are. Wet traction was very good. Snow traction was fine..Mud was good as long as tread depth is good. I was very pleased with every aspect of this tire accept tread wear... they wore evenly..and I did routinely rotate. However they have only lived up to a little better than half the mileage for tread wear..I have 30k on them and they are done..I agree I have a heavy truck but my previous tire "toyo" lasted much longer... I was not satisfied with the toyo compared to these HTS ties. they only lasted longer. I would buy again..I love to get a pro rated discount on my next set. If you have anything other than a heavy diesel you will probably get better tread life than i did.. these are quiet and smooth ++ and grip great++

These tires are very quiet compared to the Bridgestones that came with my vehicle. I am happy, and overjoyed with theses tires, I highly recommend them to anyone. I have only driven less than 800 miles on the tires so far. Seem to do well on the roads. Had a couple of fishtales with them in the snow. Also my gas mileage seems to be less, but I also have added weight in the bed of the truck and in the mornings having to warm it up for about 10 mins so that could be a factor.

These tires are quiet, smooth, and according to my installer, balanced easy. Also had a 4 wheel alignment done, as there were wear issues, and handling was much improved. Very good in rain , not good on ice. No snow yet. Got rebate in 9 weeks, and the price and service from t/depot was very good again. This is my third set of tires from them. On top of all this, the most important is that they are MADE IN USA!

I bought this tire for the price and the expected tread wear. I now have 30,000 miles on them and by the looks of them, I will maybe get another 10-12K out of them. Not exactly the tread wear I was anticipating. Traction is extremely good. I gave this a 4 star rating because of the tread wear. Overall, not a bad buy.

We've bought three sets of truck tires for vehicles in the last three months. The Generals were placed on a Wrangler mostly used for commuting to work and monthly guard drills by my youngest son. The braking power of these tires and the the Jeep are awesome. I had to stop suddenly in I20 at 70 miles an hour when traffice came to a sudden halt. Other vehicles were seen going sideways but the Jeep stayed straight and didn't even come close to the vehicle ahead. While there is very little snow here, we did have a chance to drive in the snow this past winter. Snow when it does come tends to be of the moist icy variety. The Generals slipped a little more than I would of thought while in four wheel drive. It wouldn' be my first choice in a snowy climate, but otherwise are a good tire at a good price for our climate.

After reading all reviews for this tire, we purchased a set of 4 tires. Generally, these tires have performed reasonably on wet and dry roads. No experience with snow or ice. The tread wear has been very disappointing. After ~30K, the tires have been difficult to balance. At ~38K, there is less than 4/32 tread life remaining with noticeable warping on all four tires. All recommended rotation and balance have been performed to date. I have contacted General Tire regarding their "Limited Warranty" policy for these tires rated for 60K. I would not recommend these tires.

I bought these tires after reading a lot of reports on how awesome they were. I was quite disappointed. These were hyped as having excellent traction in the snow, so I was not worried when we had our first snowfall....until I tried to drive home in it. Zero traction. The slightest grade became impossible to ascend. I thought perhaps that my empty truck was too light, so I placed 4 80 lb bags of concrete in the back of my truck, directly over the axel. No help. Further, these tires would not remain 'round' when the temperatures drop below 40 deg. It takes a good 5 to 7 miles of driving on oval-feeling tires until they warm up. Very annoying. I only got 35,000 miles out of them, and they were completely bald. I only tow a jet ski, and my heaviest load is about 500 lbs, once in a while. As the tread decreased, the noise increased....big time. I did NOT have a good experience with these tires.

I put 21,000 miles on these tires and they simply wore out. I am 58 and do not drive aggressively at all. I do plow my 2 driveways during the winter months. Driving on these tires was fine (4 star) but getting only 21,000 on them was disturbing. They wore evenly but did not last. The redeeming factor was that I had a tire adjustment worth half the price of a new tire so I figured I would give them another try...that is why I wrote I would buy them again. Maybe they were just defective in that batch...

I purchased these tires for both of my Explorers. One 1993 and the other 2002. They are good to start with. They wear out very quickly and don't have any traction in snow after the first season. They are great tires for about 5,000 miles. Of course the ridiculously quick wear just makes them a poor value and poor choice altogether. I got 100k miles out of the original Firestone tires. What a joke these tires are and I paid for two sets. Do yourself a favor and don't even think about buying these. Consumer reports and Tire track are so very wrong in their reviews. They only consider an initial test of new tires, not checking that the tires don't last at all and have very poor traction with just a few thousand miles of use.

This set of tires came on a new 2010 Silverado 2WD with the buit in tire pressure sensors that I purchased April 2010. One of the tire pressure sensors came on last week. I took it to a tire shop and they said it had been punctured and they fixed it. I had a flat again the next day on the same tire. Took it to the tire shop and they fixed a different hole. Two days later different tire same story only this time the tire shop replaced the general with a used tire they had. They refused to pu the genral back on because they said it was unsafe. The tires are 15 months old and have 24,500 miles on them. They only have 6/32 left. All the tires on previous new pickups have gone 35,000 to 40, 000 before needing to be replaced. I would never recommend these tires to anyone. I noticed the only good reviews here were tires with less than 10,000 miles on them. Those people are in for a rude awakening.

Researched tires via Consumer Reports - rated "best buy". Bought 4 on 10/29. Purchased alignment and tire warranty. On hwy drive had steering wobble at 70mph. Took back to dealer for re-balancing. After this visit, hwy wobble at 70 mph still a problem. Revisited dealer and found that tires were in balance but 3 of 4 tires were bad. Had choice of replacing 3 bad tires or getting a different brand. Chose different brand. All problems solved so far. Told by dealer these type problems could happen with any tire, but based on my experience, future choices will not include General.
