Toyo Proxes RR

Toyo's newest road racing tire, the Proxes RR is their fastest, most responsive version yet. With just two circumferential grooves, the RR is as close to a slick racing tire as can be had, while still being DOT approved. Unlike the R888 and RA-1, the 4/32nds tread depth on the Proxes RR tire line does not need to be shaved to meet near optimal dry grip. Spec Tire for Spec Miata, Spec E30, American Iron, Honda Challenge, Spec Boxster 986, and Factory Five Challenge.

Toyo has built upon years of road racing tire development in launching the Proxes RR. Already selected as the 2013 spec tire for Nasa's Spec E30, Spec Miata and Spec 944 series, the Proxes RR is their best iteration of road racing tires yet.

This is Toyo's best racing tire yet. Having now raced on RA-1s, R888s and now the RR - this one is the most consistent, and will take the most heat cycles without giving up tons of grip late in life. Its also the fastest by 2 secs a lap on most of the tracks in our area. You'll need to adjust pressures from 888's if that's what your using now, but other than that, love 'em.

This is the new standard spec tire for the NASA Spec series--E30, Spec Miata, and Spec 944. I first ran it at our race at Auto Club Speedway, and had some time to do a side-by-side comparison since I ran my old RA1s in practice. The RRs are clearly faster. The whole field was about 1.5 secs faster on the new tires. The RRs prefer less slip angle than the RA1s, and prefer a slightly higher pressure. Time will tell how they handle the higher heat of the summer, but they held up very well in the mild conditions we were running in that day. You have to be careful with these, as there are some important mounting considerations, but they're clearly faster than the RA1s and the fact that we don't have to shave them is fantastic.
